Mervyn and Edythe were founding members of the curling club, and were part of the club for 50 years. They were both avid curlers and were always willing to help out wherever it was needed, taking on many roles. Mervyn and Edythe were proud supporters of youth curling and asked that memorial donations made in their name be used for our junior curling program. We are so thankful for the way they gave of their time and talents over the years, and are so pleased to be able to honour them.
Dave was a long time member of the club who curled competitively as well as participating in our leagues over the years. He was always willing to lend his time and talents to the club, and at the time of his passing was our club president. We remember Dave with fondness, and appreciate all he brought to our club. We are also grateful to Dave's wife Linda and their children and grandchildren who supported our club through memorial donations. We are thrilled to honour Dave and his contributions to the curling club.
Although not a curler, Dorothy participated in social events at the club. She was a great supporter of youth recreation throughout our community and extended this kindness to the curling club. We are grateful to Dorothy for her gift to our club, which will allow us to make improvements that will be enjoyed by both young and old.
Bill and his wife moved to Durham in the mid 1960's when Abitibi bought the veneer plant. They were members of the curling club for several years until the plant was again sold, and they moved out of the area. After his passing, Bill bequest money to the curling club which has been used for upgrades and renovations to our building. We are thankful for the support of the Langs and the improvements that their generosity has allowed us to enjoy.
